We’re looking for a phlebotomist who’s skilled at collecting blood samples, supporting patients through the process, and maintaining accurate, organized records. The right person is calm under pressure, communicates well, and closely follows safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect blood samples through venipuncture, finger sticks, or heel sticks.
- Verify patient identity and confirm test orders before collecting samples.
- Label and handle specimens accurately to avoid mix-ups.
- Enter patient and specimen information into the lab system.
- Prepare samples for transport or processing.
- Follow infection-control and safety procedures.
- Maintain clean, stocked work areas.
- Provide a steady, reassuring experience for patients of all ages.
- Report any issues with specimens, equipment, or documentation.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy program.
- Current phlebotomy certification (ASCP, NHA, or state-specific certification).
- Basic understanding of medical terminology.
- Strong attention to detail and steady hand skills.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Experience
- Previous work in a clinical lab, hospital, or outpatient setting.
- Experience with electronic medical records.
- Comfort working with infants, children, and older adults.
Schedule and Work Environment
- Shifts, weekends, travel requirements, mobile draws, etc.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay range: $28, performance bonuses
